THe Orca Inn was built in the 1930's in what was formerly the "Chinatown" of Alert Bay. Wong Toy had his hardware store here where many older residents remember buying their first shoes! The other building was the Royal Cafe. Both buildings were combined the form the Orca Inn as it now stands. During the heydays of the fishing industry and before the Island highway was built Alert Bay had many times its present population. There were five bars in town with five bands playing in those bars!
We have several whale watch companies that operate out of Alert Bay. Here are links to these companies: https://seasmokewhalewatching.com/https://seawolfadventures.ca/
